We have stayed in a number of Boyne's Disciple's Ridge units. With a few minor exceptions, they are usually comfortably ready for real families to stay. This one seemed like somebody forgot to finish prepping the unit before our arrival date. We'd rented both the first and 2nd floors for our extended family: 9 adults and 2 children. A good fit! Upon arrival, we punched in the entry code, wrestled open the broken & off-track screen door and were immediately met with a nasty musty, mildewy closed-up smell! Ugh. Generally dirty was the impression our downstairs dwellers expressed about their rooms. The dining table in their unit was broken in several ways, held up by leaning against the wall. The back porch/deck included 3 dirty green plastic chairs, one of which was broken. No table. Also on the deck was an imposing fire pot of some sort, stuffed top & bottom with half-burned wood and many cigarette butts. And, a charcoal grill - no charcoal. (We had anticipated gas.) While there were adequate clean linens, and beds were made/bathrooms clean, as we began to settle in we noticed that dishes in the upstairs cabinets were dirty; the little Kuerig coffee maker was unusable; the bottom of the dishwasher was crusty with what we hoped were just calcium deposits. The "fully equipped" kitchen was not. Especially not for cooking meals. The refrigerator was missing 2 shelves. Seating for meals? The table upstairs, for which we located no additional leaves might seat 5-6, but there were only 4 chairs. The # of beds was adequate but the beds were very soft. Unfortunately, while we reported these problems to the owner, who was generally responsive to our emails, she made no offer to adjust the fees to make up for these problems. Said thanks for our comments; she'd pass them along to the property management people. We had a good time with the family but for the price we paid, this unit was very disappointing.
