We LOVED our weekend at the Hollywood Beach Bungalow! The house is beautiful! Rustic in that relaxed, no-hassle way, but really tastefully appointed, crisp and spotless, and with everything we needed and more. It had comfy beds, lovely towels, great kitchen gear, and two AWESOME hanging out areas -- the couch and chairs in the living room, and the beautiful long dining table, where the 4 of us stayed up snacking, talking and laughing 'til the wee hours. The beach is a 5-minute walk away, and it is huge and open and was virtually empty on our several trips there; and 4 bikes were available for our use (and they got used). Each friend in our group arrived from a different, distant location for a best friend's daughter's wedding, and the trips and traffic had us frazzled by the time we got to the house; but all that evaporated once we got in. Joanie, the owner, had left us a lovely welcome note and a bottle of wine, and her list of house operations was clear and very helpful. I had a couple of phone conversations with her about specific questions, and though that was an intrusion on her weekend, she was so warm and friendly that she really put me at ease. The bungalow is a sublime getaway to kick off your shoes, gather with friends, read a good book, and unwind big time. The only recommendation I would make is that since our group was there to attend a wedding, a full-length mirror somewhere in the house, and perhaps a magnifying mirror in one of the bathrooms would be welcome additions. We don't do the makeup and fancy wedding clothes thing often, and it would have been nice to have had a sense that we were actually put together pretty well. Thank you, Joanie, for a stupendous time in your beautiful home! As we all parted last weekend, we decided that we would meet there again on our next LA trip!
