A delightful harbor adventure
Drew's houseboat and the surrounding marina provided a delightful and relaxing weekend away from the city. The location is an easy couple hour drive from Seattle, but feels like a completely separate world. From the outside, the the houseboat looks like a small box, but the inside is well-equipped and decorated, and very comfortable. We spent most of our time sitting on the adirondack chairs on front "deck," drinking wine, and looking out at the water and trees. The coming and going of boats in the marina added to the overall magic ambiance of this getaway. We're avid kayakers and had thought we'd be able to head out directly from the houseboat and/or marina and were bit disappointed that we weren't able to do so; however, there's boat launch just the other side of the bridge on the mainland that worked extremely well. With friends living nearby and in Grapeview, the houseboat's location is perfect. The only true nit I would offer is the bed. The bunk beds were a bit odd and we would have preferred a regular ole queen-sized bed; we're child-free couple in our 40s, though, so I understand why the bunks would be useful if you're traveling with a kid. In addition to having a great experience with the houseboat, the owner impressed me with both his response time and his kindness. We left behind a Kindle and he generously offered to mail it to us. Overall this is a great place and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience; we'll be coming back.
