The location of the cabin is a good area. There is only room for one vehicle for parking. The cabin looked as though it had not been dusted in several months, getting ready to use the shower downstairs and there was hair in the drain. Things of such don't bother me except when I spend over $$$ for a two night stay. Our daughter (19) used the upstairs shower the first evening (about 9 p.m., too late to go somewhere else) and water came dripping through the ceiling so much that I needed to put pans on the downstairs floor to catch the water. I went upstairs and there was no standing water on the floor, so the assumption is there is a leak between the tub and floor. I am not a plumber, but there was a serious leak coming from the shower area. Getting into the master bed the head board was not attached to the bed so it wobbled around a bunch as you moved in the bed. Overall not impressed at all with Bearbones Cabin. And in looking around the area, there were a lot nicer, probably in better shape places. After looking at universities in the area, I called Wendy to notify her of the leak (there was no service at the cabin so I could not call until the next day). She stated that she would have had a plumber come if I had called. I didn't go on vacation researching universities in the area to wait on a plumber. I told her we left Saturday, actually called her on our way out of town. I asked for a nights refund. On the phone she agreed to reimburse me for one nights stay. Yet the next week she emailed me and said she sent a plumber and the plumber didn't find anything and that maybe the shower curtain wasn't inside the shower and water leaked out. Well, first off, my daughter is 19 and is not careless as such, second, I went upstairs to look for standing water on the floor and there wasn't any, third, if there was standing water on the floor it would need to be a whole lot of water to leak through a ceiling from upstairs to downstairs. That was the most insulting email ever. In her email she also stated that she doesn't receive the payment from my credit card company that VRBO receives the payment and she couldn't issue a nights refund, (funny she didn't recall that when we spoke on the phone). However, she stated in good spirit she would refund $100 of the visit. I have yet to see any refund from Wendy. I would like to mention this was our first VRBO stay and our last VRBO stay.
