This was our 3rd visit to the Big Island so we were familiar with the layout of the island going in. Knowing that Miloli'i was further south, we stayed on the North end for the 1st part of our trip. I suggest doing it that way so you're not stuck in the car the entire time. Also, when you look at a map, Miloli'i looks close to Captain Cook, but just be aware that it will take you 25 min. to get there. We made use of the small town called Ocean View which is about 10-15 min. trip more south for all our groceries and had dinner and drinks at a small restaurant called Mehe's Ka'u Bar & Grill--excellent food and a place to chat it up with the locals. Being this far south on the island, you can knock out some amazing beaches such as the green sand beach near South Point and even an easy hike to the black sand beach at Honomalino Bay in Miloli'i. We also drove to Kealakekua Bay one day and rented a kayak to snorkel at the Captain Cook monument. The Blue Heaven House is perfect for 2 people and the sunsets from the patio are breathtaking. We loved the layout of the cottage. When you walk in, you have plenty of space for all your belongings including a space to hang your clothes and a small dresser. The bathroom is a step down from that space and provides a large shower, sink, and toilet with windows overlooking the pool/patio. There is also a separate door going from the bathroom to the patio. The studio kitchen had everything we needed and we grilled fish and veggies each night for dinner. You will most likely not have cell phone coverage on most of the island but the internet at the Blue Heaven House worked perfectly and there is also a TV for those that must watch their news and sports. The bed felt like a double or queen and was comfortable. One thing to mention is that the Big Island has an infestation of coqui frogs in almost all locations. The males chirp from dusk till dawn and they are super loud so sleeping with the windows open was not optional for us (google them to hear & bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper). Other than that, the Glovers are wonderful at responding and were very accommodating to us. They have a great little oasis and we had an amazing time. If you want to get away from it all and have your privacy, this is the place.
'Hale Polu Lani' (Blue Heaven House) is an oasis where sea and sky meet.
