Unprofessional, Disingenuous & Unprepared to Host You
My husband and I rented all 4 houses on the property for our wedding party. So many things went wrong…if you don't have time to read everything, just RUN. The property is large and we were nervous that folks wouldn’t be able to navigate on their own, as there is no lighting at night and no cell reception. After receiving a confusing doc on how to access the property, we contacted MyVRHost (the rental management company) with a few questions. Rather than providing responses, we were directed to download an app. We did and found the same confusing content. So helpful! The night we checked in, the fire alarm in one of the houses ran out of battery and beeped all night long. Three of our guests had to relocate at 3AM through the dark, unlit polo field grounds. Because the alarm was at the highest point of a peaked roof, we contacted MyVRHost for help. After multiple attempts, we were told to "take out the battery” as if we didn’t already try that. When we returned to the house 8+ hours later, the alarm was still beeping. We finally searched the grounds for a ladder, went into town for batteries and perched our tallest guest on top of the ladder while we all braced him. So fun! Once we dismantled the alarm, we realized the toilet was not flushing...and the sink had no water...and there was no water in all 4 houses. This was 10PM and hair, makeup, photographer, limo were scheduled to arrive starting at 8AM. We called MyVRHost and were told that the issue would be reported. When pushed for more info - When will this be resolved? Will someone contact us? What is the case number?" Should we go to a hotel? - we were given curt, rote responses ("I said the issue will be logged."). In the absence of information, we booked two hotel rooms to shower in and relocated a few guests to stay with family. My husband heard back from MyVRHost around 6AM. We were told, “I would advise you to go to the hotel [to get ready]…I will of course issue you a refund for this huge inconvenience…” Water was trucked in and was on 12 hours later around 9AM with limited water pressure. We’ve now been offered a refund that is less than 1 night’s cost and MyVRHost has gone silent. I get that this is not a hotel, but it’s also a property designed for 24. We were there <8 waking hours (and taken 4 showers) before the water went out. THE TEAM RUNNING THIS PLACE IS UNPROFESSIONAL, DISINGENUOUS AND UNPREPARED TO SUPPORT YOU. Do not stay here (and if you do, bring camping gear).
