Nice large condo, but some issues
We use VRBO regularly. This is our 1st negative experience. Not all bad, so I am going to try to be completely fair rating the overall experience. We had three couples stay at the condo. It's spacious and comfortable. Overall nice furnishings, large master w/ great master tub. Very happy they allow pets- we have 2 pugs. Of note: there is a long staircase inside the entrance- a little daunting for our older pug, so we carried her up and down. But overall the space was great. It truly felt like a nice upscale condo in Fountain Hills. However, there are some upkeep issues usual of vacation homes: the appliances are older, the sliding screen doors are difficult to open, etc. The owner emailed us a couple hours before check in stating the washing machine was not working, and she was out of the country w/ limited access to internet and email. This was a big problem as some in our group were coming from other travels and planned to do laundry upon arrival and before departing. After numerous emails and phone calls, a few days later the owner finally said her cleaning woman would do the laundry at her place and bring it back, once. (and let us know how out of scope this was for the cleaning woman). We still needed a working washing machine for laundry and clean towels before departure, and despite numerous emails and phone calls (and a request by the owner that someone in our party stay at home all day on Friday for a repairman) no one ever showed up, and the washing machine was never fixed during our week stay. In addition, we had trouble opening all the screen doors- one did come off the tracks during our stay, which admittedly did make the door worse. Not only did we get no offer of any refund for the broken washing machine, we were charged out of our deposit for a screen door repair/replacement. The owner required 45 days advance full payment and deposit, and they are out of the country, so we got charged foreign transaction fees on our credit card. To get our very reduced deposit back, I was required to "sign-up" w/ Chase Bank person to person payments w/ my bank account number. Not comfortable with that even through Chase, just wanted a credit to the credit card. They said they weren't "authorized" to do that. We are in process of disputing our full deposit amount with our credit card company. Hopefully it will all work out ok. Wish I could give a 5 star rating, the condo is nice, but too many issues to ignore and were ignored.
