Lake Retreat - But
We enjoyed several days at this lake house relaxing with family and seeing old friends. As one of the few properties that could accommodate eight people comfortably there were plenty of beds and the place was large enough to find a quiet spot and not be on top of each other. Plenty of parking. Being right on the lake we were able to take full advantage of jumping off the dock into the refreshing Lake Lanier water. The only down side was that the place could use some TLC. It wasn't that clean, one of the upstairs bedrooms had dog fur all over the comforter and the room reeked of wet dog, the beds were old and uncomfortable, the dead cock roaches and myriad cobwebs and spiders were gross, dishes and utensils had to be washed before being used, the dock had nails sticking up and the ladder on the dock was very rusted, and the upstairs bathroom was so small that you had to lean to use the toilet. Additionally, there was dog excrement all over the yard area that led to the "beach" area that was so covered in muck I actually sunk to my knee while trying to launch the canoe - definitely not a place to let my toddler play and one of the reasons we rented this house over another. There were life vests, a canoe, a kayak, and some water toys but there was only one kayak paddle that was broken in two halves. I am sorry to say I really felt let down by the condition of the house. To his credit, the owner did not charge us a pet deposit fee, did send a cleaning lady to take away the dirty comforter, and was quick to respond when we reported water leaking from the upstairs through the kitchen light over the island. If it was more clean or well taken care it would have been a nice visit.
The Boathouse is located in a secluded cove on Lake Lanier .
