A Perfectly Charming Escape
My husband and I absolutely loved everything about the cottage, the vineyard, the island and the hosts! We flew into Seattle and took public transportation and it was an easy journey from the airport (bus 574 to the Lakewood Transit Center in Tacoma and then bus 212 to the Steilacoom Ferry Landing) and very conveniently the transit center is right by a Super Target so we stopped to get groceries while waiting for our next bus. When arriving on the island, we walked the mile and half to vineyard amongst beautiful old growth forest. (If you're planning to walk or ride bicycles on the island, know that the hills are rather steep.) The accommodations of the cottage were very comfortable and left nothing wanting. The view from the back patio is lovely. We took bicycles around island, exploring several of the forest paths and beaches and ate lunch at a small cafe that served wonderful fish and chips. The best part for us was the incredible welcome we received upon arrival, the generous manner in which Alan shared his excellent knowledge of wine making, and the way in which we were made to feel right at home. We would (and already have) highly recommend this magical place!
