Couldn't be happier!
We loved Ao Lele! When we booked there were not many reviews, but it looked so lovely we decided to book it. When we arrived, Mike, the owner, welcomed us warmly and gave us a tour of the house as well as some tips on the best hikes to take in the National Park. Not only did Mike point out some nifty things (like dimmers on just about every switch for mood lighting), but he stocked the fridge with the fixings for a delicious breakfast. It was such a nice surprise not to have to worry about hitting the grocery after a long day of travel. The cabin is wonderfully thought out down to the last tiny detail. If we had wanted to cook a dinner, we would have had everything we needed in the kitchen. The house has been well decorated and you can tell a lot of love went into it. The colors are soothing, and you've got everything you need for relaxing stay from a bluetooth setup for music to a large and luxurious clawfoot tub for soaking in. There are even fluffy robes you can use. In case you just didnt get around to planning your trip, there is a book shelf with travel guides, national park maps, and books about other Hawaii related topics of interest, as well as some fiction. The loft, where the bed is located is gorgeous with big windows that allow you to enjoy the view of the forest from bed. The whole place feels wonderfully calm and soothing. The wrap around deck looks out onto a lush forest. The deck has comfy zero gravity lounge chairs as well as a table to sit at and enjoy the view and the birds. Even though you are conveniently located just minutes from the National Park, the cabin feels wonderfully private and remote. We stayed 2 nights there so that we could explore the Volcano National Park. While we loved the park, especially the Kiluea Iki trail that Mike recommend and provided a trail guide for, we wish we had stayed an extra day so that we could just lounge and enjoy the cabin. It would be the perfect place to start a honeymoon after the hub bub of a wedding. It is quiet, romantic, and just lovely. We loved the Flying Cloud Cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming place to stay in the Volcano area. Thank you, Mike!
