5 Star Cabin!!!
This is a 5 star cabin, but a 3 star home in Lake Junaluska. Let me explain. The Red Cabin, does not claim to be a luxurious home. It's a "cabin"...It's in the name. My family and I have rented nicer places around Lake Junaluska, but this has been our favorite. It is cozy (on the smaller side) but very comfortable. We loved not being spread out in a large home. We actually all sat together and got to spend quality time. We played board games (all provided), and sat outside by the private fire pit. We grilled out every night and ate around the large dining table (comfortably seats 6-8 people). The upstairs is nice, but the downstairs needs a little TLC, as it is a little campy. However, downstairs would be perfect if you have teenagers that want their own space, but I would not recommend it for adults (unless you a fine with a space that is a little rough around the edges). The bed downstairs is a full bed and the shower is in bad shape. My wife and I ended up using the one upstairs. Courtney, the owner, was great!!! Even refunded 1/2 of our cleaning fee b/c there was some confusion during check-in with the cleaning service. Plenty of parking (enough for 4 cars), but the driveway is steep. Kitchen is stocked nicely for about 6 people, and charcoal grill is available for use. Fire pit is great! There was plenty of wood, and hanging garden lights set the mood. This place was awesome and we would definitely rent here again! Sorry if the 3 stars to this review is confusing, but it is simply based on how it compares to other houses in the area. If the downstairs was updated and a little more usable I would have no problem giving it 5 stars. If your looking for something fancy this place isn't for you, but if you want a cozy private cabin, you won't be disappointed. In closing, if you are a family with teenage kids, this place is perfect. If you, your significant other and another couple (with or without kids) are looking for a place to stay, this place is perfect. If you and 2-3 other couples are looking for a place for the weekend, I would look elsewhere (as one of you will end up in the basement and feel slighted on your accommodations compared to the other two rooms). Hope this helps!
