very cramped and small rooms
Our reservation was made for 7 nights with 5 adults for the period April 23 - April 30 2016. I made the 1st payment on March 14 by VISA card online to VRBO through the website. On request from the owner, I was asked to pay the 2nd payment ( balance ) on April 16. However, when I came to make the payment using the VRBO website as previously, it informed me that I cannot make that payment as the payment request has expired and has been cancelled. After several emails to the owner, she then asked me to make this 2nd payment based on another reservation. This new reservation generated by the owner was for 1 night stay on April 16 - April 17 for 2 adults. This did seem strange since we did not arrive in Vancouver till April 23! However, I had no choice but to pay the balance amount, on that new reservation to secure my reservation or to lose everything. My complaint is that the owner of this property then fraudulently withheld my refundable deposit after we left Vancouver. On requesting for some explanations of this, I was either ignored or fed with negative excuses. Eventually I did receive from VRBO a refund of only one fifth of the total deposit with no explanation for the amount. On pressing the owner for the reasons for the deduction of the four fifths from my deposit, she came up with a range of fabricated and ridiculous claims, all unsubstantiated. We are five siblings travelling together and three of us are pensioners. So to accuse us of causing the types of damages she listed is unthinkable. The nature of her claims might possibly be associated with some younger persons perhaps, but even then they have to be very irresponsible people and certainly not the type that I would have thought would use your VRBO properties. Furthermore, if any claims were made, surely the owner must be able to produce proofs of certain nature to substantiate them. It will be most unfair if the owner is allowed to make any outrageous claims unsupported. This is fraud. I wish to ask why your company declared the request of my 2nd payment as "expired" and subsequently produced an entirely non- related reservation for my balance? Also why VRBO paid my refundable deposit to the owner so quickly? Surely this deposit should have remained with VRBO account until any differences, if any, have been resolved. We have no problems at all with the other VRBO properties we stayed - Edmonton & Calgary. In conclusion we WOULD NOT recommend this property at all to anyone.
