A Perfect, Peaceful Place
We loved spending our Labor Day weekend at this historic, restored cottage with its private beach access. Reading about the history of the cottage in the special binder on the book shelf gave us such an appreciation of the care and love that the cottage has had for multiple generations. Jan met as when we arrived and led us down the delightful, tree-lined, short walk to the private beach, which is a hidden gem along the shoreline. Walking along it, early in the morning or late in the evening, was a highlight of our time at the cottage. The cottage itself was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. There were two window air conditioners, and a whole-house attic fan that cooled the house very well. The kitchen was stocked with items not usually found in a rental place, such as paper picnic supplies, plastic wrap, tinfoil, left-over containers etc. There were plenty of dishes and pans to make and bake any meal desired. There even was a huge bin of large beach towels to use, along with beach chairs and umbrella. We discovered that the neighbors were all very friendly and helpful since most of them are relatives of the owner. The whole area has been in the family for many years, and now the 3rd and 4th generations are enjoying the land and sea of their great grandparents. We definitely hope to travel back to this oasis from our Chicago-area home. Maybe next time we will even visit the nearby towns instead of just enjoying the lazy, peaceful days at the cottage with its beach!
