When can I go back?!!!
. I was looking for a comfortable house for my wife, our two 20 something’s and their significant others, in a setting that is very laid back, has a nice beach, and not much else except a few places for casual dinners, and an ice cream cone or two. Holden Beach and the house "Footprints in the Marsh" had it all. The location was perfect. It is about a five minute walk to the beach and very close to one of the beach access points. We rented both kayaks and bikes to use for the week. The island is very bike friendly, and the canal in the backyard made it perfect for kayaking to the intercoastal. The large wagon at the house made carrying all of our beach toys/chairs/coolers extremely easy. The house was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. Our plans were to make dinner at the house three nights; the very well equipped kitchen and the grill in the back yard fit into those plans perfectly. The kitchen easily accommodated multiple cooks helping prepare our evening feasts. Most mornings were started w/ coffee on the deck overlooking the canal, and most evenings we had wine/cocktails from the deck overlooking the marsh, and then after dinner retired there to watch the sunset from the totally unobstructed views. The owner Melissa was a wealth of info on the area, from where to buy fresh seafood, the best produce market, to her favorite locations for dining, golf, etc. She even gave us tips on a day trip to Wilmington (well worth the drive) I was truly amazed at how friendly everyone in the Holden Beach area was, both the locals and other tourists. We happened to be there during a period where the daytime temps were in the 90s. It was so nice to get back to the A/C each afternoon after a day at the beach. The two full baths and the outside shower made it easy for everyone to get showered and ready for dinner at about the same time.
