A great place, even in rainy weather
Our family had a great winter trip to the Gentle Ridge house, despite dreary weather and a couple folks feeling under-the-weather. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the common areas were comfortable and cheerful, and there is a great corner desk for getting a little work done. While waiting for weather to pass we enjoyed the hot tub and views of clouds coming up the valley and played games at the big dining room table. Those of us that were up for it went up the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway for chilly but beautiful hiking at Waterrock Knob and on the mountains-to-sea trail. The kitchen at the house was well stocked and we cooked most of our meals, along with a great trout dinner at the Balsam Mountain Inn and barbecue lunch at the Haywood Smokehouse in Waynesville. We would definitely recommend the house for friends and stay there again next time we're in the area.
