Strange house
My family of 6 (plus a baby) stayed at this home in the Golden, Colorado area last week. Location: the house is located in a residential area 15 minutes from downtown Golden. It overlooks I-70 and there's a lot of traffic noise. The sunset from the deck was beautiful, though. House: The house was moderately clean, but definitely could use a deep cleaning and some TLC. The house is pretty worn and just looks like it needs some care. Half the light bulbs were burned out in the bathrooms and the lack of lighting was a problem. The house had a horrible odor on the main level. I purchased Febreeze so we could cover it up, but it was very unpleasant. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Decor: This is the most overdone home I have ever seen. The house is overstuffed with huge furniture, making the rooms seem small. There is zebra everywhere: Rugs, pictures, furniture, placemats; giant wooden giraffes, huge urns with feathers and flowers sticking out and so many throw rugs I quit counting. One of the bedrooms had one tiny lamp and looked like a brothel. Rules: Upon arriving we were greeted in the driveway by the owner to help us navigate the narrow driveway. She immediately informed us they live on the premises in the basement. She said twice that this is stated on the website, but I rechecked and it states there is a mother-in-law suite, but not that they live there. Anyway, we didn't see them after check-in but it's still strange to have the owners present. We were then presented with a binder full of rules. We only had 6 people in our group, but we were informed over and over that only paid guests were allowed. She treated us like a group of college kids on spring break, not a family in town for a wedding. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this home. Sent from my iPad
