Ask to see pictures of the upstairs....GROSS!!!
Several things, the downstairs is as pictured. Clean and fairly updated. Kitchen is extremely small and very cluttered. You end up needing to use the table to prep as there is no room anywhere. We only made breakfast here as it was just too small, appliances and kitchen items need to be cleaned a bit more for my taste and bottom line it was just too hot to do anything else. Main problem with the downstairs is that there is only one A/C unit (I thought there was central air...definitely not!) for the entire floor and it does NOT do the trick at all. One item to note before we move upstairs, there is an outdoor shower attached to the house. What's failed to be mentioned in this listing is that it is shared with 4 other properties. Not my idea of an outdoor shower. Now for the upstairs.....it is totally decrepit. When we first walked upstairs I wanted to cry. In fact my kids were crying, they were afraid to sleep up there because of how run down the property is upstairs. We found airwicks in the room the kids were going to sleep in. Luckily I had extra sheets as I used double sheets for everyone and we were still grossed out. Paint is chipping everywhere, there are cracks in the walls everywhere and it was just absolutely disgusting. Looks like it hasn't been painted in over 30 years and definitely hasn't been updated in even more than that. The shower is a clawfoot tub that has rust around the outside and an extremely old rusty shower curtain that looks like if you pull the curtain too hard it will all come down. Some of the window ledges are cracked so badly they have taped them back together with masking tape. In all seriousness, the upstairs looks like something you would see in a movie where Addicts or homeless people live. Why did we stay? The very next morning we called the owner and she refused to give us our money back. We aren't made of money so we can't walk away from $2,000. Luckily we had friends renting another house so our children slept at their house and my husband and I stayed on the convertible sofa. Not the best way to spend a vacation but we had to make the best of it and enjoy the beautiful island. But my word of warning...stay away from this house unless you only want to live in the downstairs but make sure it's a cool weekend.
