Perfect peaceful getaway
We stayed in the Shiras cabin for four nights and it was perfect for us. We were expecting a more rustic experience but were pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfortable the cabin was. From solar power to hot water, we couldn't have asked for more. We could tell that much thoughtfulness has gone into the restoration and upkeep of these historic cabins and are grateful that the owner has made them available so that others may enjoy them as well. They are a true gem and only people who really enjoy the peace and solitude of being surrounded by nature (critters and all) should condsider spending time here. They are for people who enjoy being off the beaten path, who don't need wi-fi, who can understand that a cabin in the middle of the woods may have a mouse in it (and may even bring their own mousetraps), for those who do their research ahead of time as to the activities they want to do, for those who can read a map and don't need their phone to get them from Point A to Point B, and for those who don't mind a bumpy road and getting their vehicle dirty. We certainly are thankful for the owner for letting us have this wonderful experience! We would love to return with our kids in the future. We do have to say that if you are planning to come to the cabin from the south via Sundell and Peter White Rd, you must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle with clearance. Its also a 45 minute drive for the five miles on the dirt road from the south. We enjoyed it, but its not for everyone. It would be better to come in from the north. It will take about 15 minutes to drive the 3 miles from the intersection of M-28 and Peter White Road through Deerton to the cabins. You are able to make the drive to the cabin in a car from the north, but not from the south.
