Comfortable with big backyard
Pictures are accurate for this 1-bedroom guest house. The main house is also a rental property, so this could be an ideal set-up for a larger friends gathering. I was in town for just 2 nights for a quick weekend--I brought my dog so liked that there was no carpet and a huge backyard (lots of cactus) for him to run around in. The pool was drained, didn't try to use the hot-tub. Inside it's 1 BR with a stacked w/d, living/dining room combo with small kitchen and small, outdated but workable, kitchen. The water (commented in a previous review) wasn't an issue at all; the AC had to be turned on rather than being automatic but worked well. Cons: (1) The quality of the kitchen equipment/linens/towels isn't great, which I suppose is to be expected with a rental home...if you want to do fancy cooking plan on bringing your own equipment. (2) The house doesn't seem clean--clearly hasn't had a deep clean in a while, I had to sweep the floor when I walked in. That's the flip side of not having to pay a cleaning deposit I suppose, but it is kind of gross to rely on the previous renter to do the cleaning before you. Pro: (1) I was impressed by the owner--he was out of the country and went above and beyond to make sure I got into the house on time despite his property manager being unavailable (I made my reservation late in the week). He was in immediate contact with me, followed up to make sure I was okay and was fairly prompt with the return of my deposit. Professional and gave me confidence. (2) The house was convenient to Scottsdale/other areas I needed to be over the weekend without being in the middle of everything. Pleasant neighborhood for walks with my dog.
