Clean, affordable, quiet, and close to Mesa Verde
Camping at Mesa Verde can be a bad experience. Overflowing campgrounds, hot weather, rocky surfaces, and lack of amenities. Getting a decent hotel room can be just as bad or even worse. This yurt is the perfect middle ground. It's clean: Unlike some of the hotels around, this yurt is well-maintained. You don't need to worry about bedbugs, lice, nasty odors, etc. The upper level platform with the moon window is especially nice, as you can literally fall asleep under the stars without fear of being drenched by a summer monsoon rain in the middle of the night. It's affordable: For $95 a night you get solitude, starry nights, and running water! It's quiet: No noisy campers or drunken parties to contend with...only the songs of the coyote and the wind through the pinons. It's close to Mesa Verde: While not technically in the park, you can literally hike to it. The yurt sits on over 30 acres of pinon-juniper wilderness that adjoin the park. If you choose to drive to Mesa Verde, it's closer than either Cortez or Mancos. I'm not award of anyplace in the vicinity that matches this yurt in value, accessibility, and comfort.
