Comfortable, private house near Sunriver - felt like home!
My husband and I spent the fourth of July weekend here with our infant son and elderly dog. The house is very well taken care of, and was one of the cleanest vacation rentals I have ever stayed in. It is nicely decorated with a rustic bear theme and very comfortable, well made furniture. We found the house to be very well equipped with basic toiletries, comfortable beds, nice linens, and a hot tub and deck that felt quite private. We spent every night outside, sitting on the deck and cooking on the grill. There are neighbors nearby, but not close enough that you can see anything except the outlines of the homes and their lights in the distance at night. We appreciated feeling like we were out in the woods, and also really enjoyed not hearing any firework noise as Sunriver has a fireworks ban. The kitchen had a great selection of cooking gadgets and utensils, and even a good sized spice rack. This came in handy when we realized we'd forgotten to bring along the salmon marinade we'd made up in Portland before heading down for the weekend. Thanks! We dealt directly with the owner Maggie in the booking process, and she was in contact with us prior to our arrival. We found her to be extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. She was quite responsive to questions, getting back to us quickly and providing helpful information. She was a dream to work with. A few things to note - as with most vacation houses, the kitchen knives were quite dull (our fault for not remembering to pack our own). Also, it would have been nice to have a few extra kitchen towels available. The stairs to the second floor are beautifully made of rustic looking wood, but are a little slippery and come with a warning to take off your shoes before climbing. They may not be great for the elderly or for people with small mobile children. We found these issues to be quite minor, and I would recommend this place to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to return. Thanks, Maggie!
