Decent Location / Small Accommodations / Not A True Vacation Rental
Condo location was easy to get to, and close in proximity to beach access, downtown and dining options. The owner doesn't disclose in the listing but this is his personal residence, rented out when he's travelling himself, so you're not really getting a true vacation rental you're borrowing someone else's home and personal effects. That's a vastly different experience than booking a dedicated vacation rental, and should be disclosed up front in my opinion. It made us a little uncomfortable to be honest, and we cut our trip short and left 2 days early as a result. We spent most of our stay avoiding being here for anything but sleeping, and had to keep a fan going in the window at all times to pull in fresh air to filter an overpowering smell I can only describe as curry & Pine Sol. I made the mistake one evening of parking in a neighbors parking spot (admittedly my mistake) and was treated to a note on my windshield threatening to tow my vehicle, and a large splatter of spit all over my drivers side window. The neighbors clearly have little patience for out of state license plates. My booking experience and communication with the property owner were pleasant, but I did feel mislead by the fact that the owner's occupancy situation wasn't disclosed until 2 weeks prior to my arrival, far too late to make alternate arrangements for my families summer vacation rental plans. Some people might be just fine with that sort of thing, but I wouldn't have paid to borrow someone's personal residence for a week if I had known when I booked.
