Beautiful views and convenient location
Casa del Mar has spectacular views of the bay from the living-dining area and two front bedrooms. Waves break on the rocky coast across the street and you can see seals sunning on a nearby beach. The coastal walking-biking path to the aquarium, Cannery Row dining and shops also passes across the street. A short walk up First Street to Central Ave takes you to nearby good restaurants and the Nob Hill Market and deli. There is no need to drive and find a parking place. Marci Fitzurka (the agent) was pleasant and responded quickly to our bedding arrangement requests. All the beds are very comfortable, including the Murphy bed. The house is well equipped with many extras, and we felt like we were enjoying a clean and well-maintained home. It was fun to use the kitchen and make pancakes on the gas stove griddle. Our favorite spots were reading by the fireplace or playing board games at the dining room table. Both locations afforded great views of the waves, boats, cyclists and walkers. We had some rainy days and the house was equipped with umbrellas and shopping bags. We purchased the Ocean Advocate Aquarium membership which allowed our family of seven to make unlimited visits so we could return when it was less crowded. That membership is good for a year and includes two guest passes. Of the nearby restaurants, we enjoyed Il Vecchio (twice), Vivolo’s Chowder House and Zum Sushi (for carry-out). The convenience of the Nob Hill Market and Carl’s Jr. allowed us to have some lighter meals when we did not want to eat out.
