Family with three kids 6 and under.
This is the first time we've been able to take our three kids to the beach as a family and it was great. Our kids are 6, 4 and 2. The house does have some stairs, so we should have thought to bring a baby gate or two for our smallest. The house is clean and recently updated. I'd say the kitchen and bathroom fitments are similar to a newer starter home. Not luxurious, but totally good for our family. We cooked in the kitchen and didn't find ourselves lacking any utensils or cookware. The beds slept fine, my older two loved the trundle bed downstairs! Its about a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, or if you have a 4wd you can drive out onto the sand! I'll say that this part of the island was perfect for our small kids! At low tide there are virtually no waves and the water is shin deep so far out that I started to get nervous about how far from shore I was! I was literally 100 yards off shore and had never been deeper than my waist. Plenty of small shells for the kiddos to collect, plenty of small fish in the water for them to see. They also enjoyed going down to the point of the inlet and climbing around on the giant sandbags - although I'm not sure if that is allowed? This was a great, non-commercial, family beach trip. Not too crowded, just right! If we are able we will def come again! We ate at the shrimp house - just 3-4 minutes down the road and great food. We also got burgers from a place called 'Fat Burgers' just inland, also very good. There is a bakery/coffee shop called 'Sneaky Freaky' that had wonderful cupcakes. 'Beach Bunny' Ice Cream down in surf city was fun for the kids as well. Meg was great to deal with, quick and easy communication. The house was clean and just as described.
