Great stay in NC wine country!
We decided on a Memorial weekend getaway at the last minute, and Holly was kind enough to accommodate us for just one night. This home has been wonderfully restored, elegant but without pretention. Everything was a delight, from the sun room to the most comfortable bed. We were greeted upon arrival with a bottle of delicious wine from a local winery, along with local cheeses. At Holly's suggestion, we then went to McRitchie Winery, where they were having their eighth year anniversary. We tasted wine, ate cake and talked to naturalist and old friend, Eric Harrold, who was there with his Harris hawks. When we returned in the evening to Holbrook House, we spent a relaxing evening sitting on the screened porch, listening to the sounds of nature at night while sipping the wine we had purchased. Next morning, Holly cooked us a fabulous breakfast at the time we requested. She is a great chef! Holbrook House is a lovely and relaxing place to stay, where you feel you have gone back to a quieter time and place. Yet, it is literally down the street from the Stone Mountain State Park entrance and just minutes from several Yadkin Valley wineries. Thanks, Holly! We'll be back!
