Beautiful Setting and Lovely Hosts
Our stay over the Thanksgiving Holiday was an experience to treasure forever! The Casa Mexicana was our home for 4 days and we could not have chosen a more lovely place to spend our Thanksgiving. The casa had everything we needed--kitchen with the necessary amenities, a cozy dining area, a comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with shower. Not to mention the tranquil setting and views of the gardens! Catherine and Peter were so welcoming and gracious. Each morning we were welcomed into their home next to us for morning coffee. Catherine made sure we had homemade muffins every morning and even saved some delicious pumpkin and pecan pie from their family dinner to share with us when we returned from Thanksgiving dinner in town. Their two dogs, Boo and Marley, were so friendly and playful! We loved the setting and all the artwork on the grounds. There is an aviary that has been converted to a relaxing sitting area with a pond and little waterfall. At night the twinkling lights are on and , if the weather had not been so chilly, we would have sat there for hours! We highly recommend Diego's and The Kane Family Restaurant in Grass Valley as well as Lefty's in Nevada City. Also, Marie's in Grass Valley is a must! This was our first trip to GV and loved exploring all the history and sites in the area. We went to the Empire Mine State Park that is just a couple miles from the Casa and also attended the Friday night Cornish Christmas. The annual Christmas Fair was another event we attended and highly recommend. So much to do in this area! We are already talking about going back in the spring and spending more time at the Casa and surrounding area. Truly a wonderful place to stay!!!
