Excellent vacation rental
From the moment we walked in the door, my boyfriend and I were thrilled at how clean and comfortable this place was; we immediately had that "at home" feeling. It was everything the listing explained: right in the heart of Waikiki, within a 10 minute walk to the Waikiki beaches making it close to tons of activities and shopping, and it's perfect for those who are trying save money on rental cars by using public transport. It is a quaint and clean studio with everything you will need if you are planning a long visit to Waikiki. We stayed here for one month and we were able to cook our meals here in the well stocked kitchen. And there is a washer and dryer on the deck, as well as beach chairs, towels, and a beach bag. There is a food pantry right across the street where you can do all of your grocery shopping, and there is also a farmers market at Kings Village every Monday and Friday that you can buy fresh fruit as well as other yummy treats. There are two bus stops about a block away that will take you to several other locations on the island such as the Ala Moana Shopping center (a big one for transferring to other buses!), Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, Hawaii Kai, and several other places. We only had a rental car for one week, simply because getting to the North Shore locations can be quite time consuming by bus; unless you are prepared to plan a big camping/backpacking trip up there for a few days. While we had the rental car there were several places too look for overnight parking, but the cheapest place seemed to be at the Waikiki Banyan parking garage; it also seemed to have the most available parking as well. It was $12 per 24 hours and you could also play for up to a week at a time; compare this to $24 per 24 hours at most park garages. But to reiterate, the rental car wasn't necessary, it was more of a luxury. Wendy and Joe, the owners, were awesome as well! They were so friendly and helpful, and the nice thing is they live just across from the unit in the other building which makes for a more comfortable experience when you are experiencing life in a new city. Perhaps the only possible negative thing about staying in Waikiki are the "city sounds" at night, so if you are used to city life, then it won't be a bother. But for us, coming from small city, it took as couple of days to get used to. Once we did though, it was smooth sailing! All in all, I would recommend this place for anyone vacationing in the Waikiki/Honolulu area
