A Hidden Treasure!
We stayed in this large studio for the first half February. Then we moved to a resort and then an ocean-front VRBO for the second half of the month. Overall, we liked this property best! Why? 1. Convenience: as first-time visitors to Kona, it was great to walk to the center of Kailua village. (Parking there is not easy). Also, grocery stores, drug stores, gym, moderately-priced restaurants etc. are all within a 1 mile radius; after shopping you drive home and park right in front of your home. 2. Quality: the apartment was immaculate. The owners live on property and obviously take great pride in this rental unit. 3. The lanai (see photos) deserves special mention. This oversized lanai is only for the renters of this studio, and it is so pleasant. Although covered, you can lie in the sun in the morning (I did), and you have a perfect view of the sun setting into the ocean each evening. Good things to know: This home is in a congested neighborhood of modest homes and apartments, so the walk to and from the village (10 minutes) is not exactly a scenic stroll (although it is very interesting!) Also, you are going up/down a moderately steep hill. We walked it day and night and always felt safe, however. Henry Road is approximately 100 yards from the property, across an empty field. You do not see the traffic, but you can hear it. Traffic is steady during the day, minimal at night. Special mention: this rental unit has a purified water dispenser; didn't expect this, but appreciated it every day. Five star service: for example, we had a minor problem with the toaster. Yuriy (the owner) was genuinely apologetic, and we we had a brand new toaster later that same day!
