A fun stay for the entire family
We recently stayed in the caboose with our three children ages 2, 4 and 6. It was a cold and rainy week, so we spend quite a bit of time as a family inside the caboose, and although it is not a huge space, it is nicely designed and intelligently laid out, so we felt cozy but never cramped. The older two kids loved sleeping in the loft area and the youngest was able to climb the ladder with some supervision. If you have young kids that need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night then be prepared to get up with them and help them climb down from the loft. It isn't that high, but our four-year-old wasn't going to make the climb by herself when half asleep. The farm itself is super fun. The kids loved the goats (especially the baby goats) and the horses, and our two-year-old spent hours watching the buffalo. There is enough near by to keep an active family busy and the drive to Asheville is manageable. At the same time, the farm is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town to provide a good place of retreat and rest. We made the short drive to Lake Junaluska a few times to take turns running, and we made the trip to Asheville for a few meals as well as a stop at Vortex Donuts. I would highly recommend the farm and the caboose to anyone look for a fun getaway.
