Very Favorite Vacation Place
This is my new very favorite vacation spot!!! I went here with girlfriends, and we did not want to leave this wonderful place! I cannot wait to go back here with my family and with other friends! The house is on a quiet, peaceful street under a canopy of old trees and sits high on a bluff above the Neuse River, so wide here that I had the feeling of being on the ocean. The house is a wonderful combination of old world charm, modern amenities and tasteful decor, including beautiful antiques, comfortable seating, and special, fun, creative, interesting touches everywhere we looked. The owner is an artist, and, apparently, a fine and thoughtful one. In my bedroom, there was an antique sink, not only beautiful, but convenient. Bathing inside was an option, but everyone loved using the very nice, fun outdoor shower. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and beyond, the house and yard very well maintained. We loved eating on the wonderful, glassed/screened front porch, enjoying the stunning sunsets from the spacious, well-built dock, exploring the charming town of Oriental nearby, and taking the ferry across the Neuse. This house is the perfect place to just BE, enveloped in nature, walk or bike the quiet streets, kayak or sail, and next time, I want to explore the many great places nearby, including Atlantic Beach and the historic towns of New Bern, Bath, Oriental, and Beaufort. I highly recommend Journey's End!! We got to take a look at the house next door, Call My Bluff, which also belongs to the same owner. It has its own unique, special character, equally charming, equally well done. We plan to rent both!
