Great location, not-so-great sleeping accommodations
First and foremost, great location. Secluded, on a small hill, off a dirt road, nice wooded grounds. Everything that reminded me of home that I miss now that I live in a city. This house had much of what we needed for cooking and cleaning purposes, and had varied cookware and dishes. There was also tons of inside space for relaxing, and enough outside space to go exploring. The coolest part about this house? It was round! We've been strongly considering building a round house after the kids have grown, and after staying in this house, we are convinced that a round house is in our future. The problem we had with this house was the sleeping accommodations. On the homeaway page for this place there was mention of a king-size bed in the master bedroom, which was one of the selling points on this place versus others. What we found was 2 twin beds with cheap, hard, bouncy twin mattresses joined together and covered with king size sheets. We tried sleeping on this the first night, and only got maybe 2 hours sleep overall the first night. We traded beds with the kids and tried in sequence the full-size, the 2 twins in the loft, and then the futon in the last room. 4 beds in 5 nights and not one of us (most kids included) slept well enough to have energy the next day. The only one who got enough sleep was the one who was smart enough to sleep on the couch (unopened). Shame, since this was a great getaway place. You should invest, at least, in better mattresses, since everything other than sleeping accommodations was fantastic. We, however, will not be returning to this location again. Thank you for everything, sincerely, other than the beds.
