Quirky Cute Beach House
Our family of 3 stayed in this beach house comfortably for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend 2016 and, as promised, the place was actually big enough to accommodate 5 comfortably! The pleasant eclectic mix of Asian Bohemian, Contemporary and Nautical Shabby Chic décor seemed to be reflective of the owners free spirit and "love for the beach" lifestyle. Located on the bottom floor of a two story building, this VRBO has two roomy bedrooms with ample closet and dresser space, as well as, a comfy day bed along with a two drawer dresser, lamp and side table tucked away behind breezy curtains of the living area. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots & pans, plates, bowls, cups, glasses etc. Oh and did I mention the full sized refrigerator & stove? Then, of course, there is the coffee maker, microwave AND propane grill on the front patio. Virtually everything needed to prepare and cook a full blown meal for the family (EXCEPT the food of course and that too is easily enough picked up at the local farmers market!) Before departing, we were even able to do a couple of loads of laundry in the washer & dryer that was available! The locale is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 blocks from Venice beach/boardwalk (certainly within walking distance) and actually about the right distance, considering being any closer means competing with the overnight homeless population that calls the beach "home". A few things to consider bringing along or buying for your stay: your own pillows (those in the rental were a bit warn and lumpy), a bag of ice to have on hand for cold drinks, zip lock baggies for leftovers, if cooking (not too many food storage containers available); finally, paper towels, paper plates, plastic wear, foil and Saran wrap if you’re thinking about grilling (a few of these things were available in small amounts, most likely left by previous guests so things WILL be utilized if you happen to not use all that you buy AND if you're inclined to pay it forward!) A suggestion for Melodie (thanks again by the way!) you might consider scaling back on the patio plants for two reasons. First, there was a nest of bees or small wasps (?) dwelling in or near one of the potted succulent's by the steps of the side door. One actually lost it's life when it stung me as I placed my hand on the rail of the stairs. Second, the plants on the front patio area are growing over onto the furniture making it difficult to walk around & set. Thanks & Enjoy!
