Summer in Flagstaff
The property was in excellent condition, very clean and just as described. It was a very relaxing place to be with only one very nice large television in a media room with surround sound. The large livingroom space allowed for another area to talk and relax without the TV but with a great Bose music system. The beds were comfortable. One night we sat on the back deck looking at a zillion stars and then watched a spectacular storm iwth lightning roll in over the mountains. The appliances were excellent and the kitchen was very well stocked with every kitchen item you could imagine.. We even had a griddle for our pancakes! The owners were very accommodating and informative about things to do in the area and places to eat. Our favorite was the Beaver Street Brewing Compamy. The food was great! We enjoyed the hiking trails near the house as well as our day trip to the Grand Canyon and the owners' suggested route is defnitely the way to go. We considered going to Lowell Observatory but they were not going to have the nighttime viewing due to the clouds/rain - so we skipped it. The only thing that would have been nice to know, although it would not have changed our decision to rent, is that AT&T cell phone service did not work in Kachina village until we got out to the freeway. There is a house phone and wireless interent...with iPhones you can still text via the wireless internet. A waitress at a local restaurant told us that Verizon is the carrier in the area. Having mentioned this, I still want to make it clear that our goal for vacation was to get away from some incredibly stressful life circumstances at home, and it was good to have some limits forced on us for our technology use.,,,and not to hear a phone ring. My 14 year old could have used some advanced warning...but she survived just fine...and spent some more time with the family. We had a great family vacation and would recommend it to family and friends.
