Rough to get there, Pleasant little cabin.
The Summary: If you can set aside expectations, go with the flow, and look at each day as an adventure, you'll love this adorable cabin experience. If you're an uptight control freak, like me, make sure to take a deep breath frequently. The Good: We stayed at one of the cabins because we usually tent camp and wanted a step up from that. We got an adorable well-built cabin, with nice amenities: bath house nearby, charcoal grill outside the cabin, fire ring in the center of the cabins, near a pond (bring mosquito repellant), the cabin has a locking door, windows that have screens you can leave open to catch night breezes. A full/queen and a set of bunk beds. All the mattresses were firm and covered with a fitted sheet - perfect when you add a sleeping bag. No electricity - bring your lanterns & flashlights. You can't even see the light from the ranch below, so the night sky is stunning and you can see the shooting stars. The meadow is only 20' or so from your front door and the grass/weeds in front of the cabins is nicely maintained. The staff are family members and they were friendly and helpful. The Rough - The "road". When I called, I was told that the entrance road was flooded (spring snow runoff) and they would have to take us and our stuff to our cabin. We had to arrange a time for pick up, and once up there, we were reliant upon them if we wanted to leave again. So we got there at 7:30pm and just didn't leave until morning. The ride between the cabin and our car took a good 20+ minutes over a "road" I wouldn't have wanted my 4-wheel-drive to tackle, in a Chevy that was filthy and powered by hope. We mostly loaded and unloaded our belongings but staff "helped" and stuff got dropped in the dirt "oops a little dirt won't hurt right?" So make sure even your pillows are well-contained. The location was a short drive from Glenwood Springs, perfect for when you're touristing the HotSprings Pool, Hanging Lake, Whitewater Rafting or any of the other great things to do there. The ranch even offers horseback riding, ATVs, and a host of other things that we didn't have the time to take advantage of.
