Johnny is such an incredibly nice and attentive host that it is hard to say anything but positive things, nevertheless I will try to write an honest and comprehensive review. I’ll start with the good. The Good – Johnny goes WAY out of his way to ensure his guests are comfortable and have a nice time. He is very knowledgeable of the Denver area and his neighborhood in particular. He is happy to make recommendations for whatever you are interested in doing and will even take you around and show you where things are. There are seven microbreweries nearby and Johnny will give you the scoop on each. He is also familiar with the nearby dispensaries and, if you are interested, he will go with you and introduce you to the folks that run them. Also the Stranahan Whiskey Distillery is nearby; touring their facility and sampling their whiskeys is a must do. Johnny’s breakfasts are amazing. Everything he cooked for us was outstanding. Speaking of hospitality, we attended a concert at Red Rocks and Johnny gave us a disposable cooler, a blanket and disposable rain ponchos - again amazingly thoughtful and caring. I will discuss Johnny’s house a little more below but I want to make it clear that the house is very clean and pleasant. The Not so Good – Johnny’s house sits on the edge of an industrial area and the neighborhood seems to be somewhat in transition. We felt safe there but it is not nearly as vibrant or quaint and as the downtown area or some of the other neighborhoods we drove through. We like to walk to dinner or to grab a drink in the evenings and there are number of places relatively close by but most involve about a half mile walk – not bad, but not outside your door step like the downtown area. On the plus side, pretty much everywhere you will want to go is a cheap Uber ride away (I think our highest fare was $12). The Neutral but Things You Should Know - As I said earlier, Johnny’s house is clean, pleasant and well-appointed but it is not luxurious. This is NOT intended as a negative; it is intended only so that you have accurate expectations. Unlike other rentals, this is a true B&B, meaning Johnny lives in the house. Again, this is NOT a negative. Johnny is a top flight host and he gives you lots of space and privacy but I wanted to make sure you have appropriate expectations. Conclusion – If you are looking for a pleasant stay in Denver with the benefit of an excellent host and breakfast chef then this is your place.
Amazing home, marijuana friendly, right in the 'pulse' of what's going in Denver
