Charming and Needs Some TLC
Last minute holiday getaway. Cottage sits on steep hill, has level parking in driveway. Approach road is privately maintained and very steep. House has no yard, but does have enclosed patio area with outdoor sitting and fire circle. Small shed houses wooden, wood fired hot tub. Well worth the wait of tending and stoking fire for a few hours to reach desired temp for soaking. Uneven stone steps lead to house entry into laundry room and kitchen. Adequate, though aging appliances..many in need of cleaning, oven and microwaves in particular. We found many dishes on shelf which needed re-washing before using. Small appliances such as electric teakettle, coffee maker, and water filter needed wiping down (greasy and dusty)...just seemed kitchen had not been deep cleaned for a long time. Living room is large with various sitting areas, two cozy rockers by red pot bellied woodstove. Plenty of wood ready and stacked. Stove takes awhile to put out steady radiant heat and needs regular monitoring and steady wood replenishment to maintain temperature. Some books and a few puzzles, you might want to bring your own games, books, or puzzles. No TV reception which is very clearly stated in property description, but there is WiFi. We were able to stream Seahawks game on Sunday on daughter's laptop. Also, TV is set up for Netflix. We did not choose to watch movies on this trip, but could have done so if we had chosen. Daybed in living room close to woodstove which one daughter chose as hers. Nice sized bath near bottom of a stairs on main floor with shower. Bath was clean. LR was dusty. Narrow stairway leads to second story with Master bedroom with queen bed and killer view of water and Cascades dominated by stunning Mt Baker. Lovely sitting area looking out on this view. Smaller bathroom upstairs...not quite as clean. Large freestanding tub (no shower). Tub is badly stained. We used downstairs shower. Upstairs bathroom could use some sprucing up. Second bedroom, somewhat smaller, twin bed. Linens very worn. Older daughter said mattress very hard. I found bed in master to be comfortable. Oh, forgot, there is a large deck off living room with picnic table and BBQ grill. Would be nice for summer. Despite things not being as clean as we might have expected, we did enjoy our two night stay. If you come in winter be prepared to feed the fire/s (plural of you are planning on hot tubbing). And bring warm clothes...slippers, hat! Also be wary of s
