Great Cabin for the Money
We arrived at the Smoky Mountain Cabin in late July and stayed for an entire week. The weather was great, the cabin and surrounding areas had wonderful views and were close to several trails, streams and picnic areas. The cabin was the CLEANEST Cabin we have ever stayed in....Period! There were plenty of clean towels and the beds were pretty comfy, and all of the appliances were pretty new. We have a family of four and it was just right for us, it could have slept several several more pretty comfortably. We enjoyed Max Patch Bald (just about a 20-30 minute drive) and the local hiking in the area, and my wife enjoyed exploring around the property and gathering acorns around the oak tree. The trails at the cabin are nice, but not quite challenging enough for my twin 14 year old boys. Also, we would have liked to spend more time in the water (exploring) but some of the locals advised us against that as the Cottonmouths were quite aggressive this year so we steered clear of that. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the morning and in the evening and the views were very nice. There was quite a bit more traffic than what we expected mostly motorcycles and logging trucks, but the property does just sit off CR HWY 209 and it is a curvy winding road....which is a bikers dream. Also, the Cabin is remote, so if you want to go places you have to be prepared to drive 20 min to and hour plus. All in all we had a great time! The owner is very nice, and accessible if you have questions or concerns.
