Great getaway spot
The A-Frame cabin was a perfect spot for a quiet retreat for me and my husband. We recently spent 4 nights at the cabin and it served as the perfect home base for wine tasting and enjoying all that Apple Hill has to offer, a day at Lake Jenkinson and a great day of hiking in El Dorado National Forest/Desolation Wilderness. The size of the cabin was perfect for 2 people but it could easily fit a family of 4 comfortably. The deck, grill and table/chairs/umbrella made for relaxed afternoons and evenings outside. We didn't miss wifi or cable, but would have liked to have had access to play music, but it didn't detract from the experience. We found that the amenities were more than sufficient and found the furniture and appliances in good condition. We prepared some nice meals in the small but fully functional kitchen. The queen-sized downstairs bed was quite comfortable although with the new air conditioner unit taking up valuable floor space on the interior wall side of the bed we had to shift the bed a bit to be able to actually get into it from the exterior wall side but greatly appreciated all of the cute and creative night lights to light the way in the middle of the night!! Having access to the hiking poles for our long day hike was a lifesaver! The weather during our stay was a bit cooler than usual for this time of the year so we did not have much problem in keeping the house cool and appreciated the extra blankets that were available. There is some occasional road noise when you are on the back deck but it's minor and the view of the trees helps you forget that you are close to a road. There are neighboring houses on either side but are set apart enough that we felt like we had the area to ourselves. The owners were easy to reach and very responsive. We would definitely stay here again!
