Super charming upcountry retreat from the heat, mosquitoes, and resort tourists
Lovely home with spectacular views in all directions. Flowers and fruit trees all over the property make for a storybook retreat. You won't find a closer spot to Haleakala and the trip to Hana side is about as good as you can get since you're already situated along the loop. Amenities included a couple beach chairs and beach towels, about four bath towels, plenty of sheets and blankets. It's cooler up there than at sea level, which we found a relief, pleasant for sleeping and no mosquitoes. I would have felt smart to bring a pair of house slippers for the cool mornings but socks did the trick. Tom was a great host providing all the info we needed to have a wonderful time and make full use of the house. He even left us a couple bouquets of fresh flowers cut from the property and lemons, nuts, and fruit from the yard, too! I'd stay again in a heartbeat. Our party was two, but should comfortably sleep four, though be aware that one of the bedrooms has no door.
