Great cabin, beautiful location, helpful host
Perfect cabin for a couple or a small family. We went up in late December -- looking primarily for a spot to enjoy the snow with our kids away from the hustle and bustle of towns closer to ski resorts. We were very happy with our decision to stay at the little feather cabin. Cozy one bedroom cabin with a queen sized bed, a pull out couch in the living room, a well equipped kitchen, and multiple heating options (wood burning stove, propane wall heater, and at least 3 space heaters). There was plenty of space in the bedroom to put a pack-n-play for our youngest to sleep in and there were extra pillows and blankets in the closets. We cooked all of our meals while we were there and you could tell that the kitchen was stocked for actual cooking -- we definitely appreciated the many pots, pans, plates, cups, gadgets, and utensils that were available. While the cabin was a great spot to get away in the winter, I imagine that it might be even a better place to visit during the summer. It sits on a beautiful, secluded property and it's just a short walk from the Feather River. There's a larger cabin that is also a vacation rental on the property, and we're already thinking about coming back with a larger group to enjoy the river this summer. Finally, the owner Janet was a pleasure to deal with. Great communication (she even emailed me some weather reports so we could plan accordingly for our trip) and she made sure that we had everything we needed while we were there. One recommendation to visitors from the Bay Area: if you can, take the 49 or the Gold Lake Highway to 49 on your way out of Graeagle. It's an amazing drive along the Yuba River through a few old gold mining towns and it ultimately drops you into Nevada City. Great way to break up the drive home.
