A Relaxing Getaway in a Cute Neighborhood
We stayed in this "Charming Cottage" over the Thanksgiving weekend - a staycation away from the to-do list waiting at home. Christine and Joe were very welcoming. The house had everything we needed -- a very nice kitchen with all the plates, glassware, silverware, and pots and pans that we needed for a family of five; comfortable beds; a relaxing shower; wifi and a big flatscreen tv with Pandora, Netflix, and cable. There are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance -- Bristol Farms and Ralphs, a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and Thai, Indian, Italian, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants. There is even a bowling alley within walking distance - we wanted to go there with our kids, but it was closed for renovations (bummer!). In retrospect we wish we had brought bikes to explore the area -- We were a short drive from Venice and from Dockweiler State Beach, but the weather was beautiful for our stay and we wish we had ridden instead. The only negative I can think of -- the house is about a mile north of LAX. We had no issues with airport traffic, even on the busy travel weekend, and we only heard the airplanes on one night of our three night stay. But even then they were a background noise -- they didn't keep us awake or disturb our visit. If you are very, very sensitive to noises, you should know that you might hear airplane traffic. On the other hand, if you want to be near the airport, you have got it made here! To conclude, this was a very relaxing, pleasant place to stay, and we heartily recommend it.
