Great little home away
The little house in Little Italy is just as cute as the pictures. It has a large kitchen with a large dining table that makes you want to cook a large pot of pasta, the only thing is you're in Little Italy, go out and have someone else do the cooking! The perfect location for walking all over Little Italy. After a great meal and gelato, stroll down to the waterfront, it's a great way to walk off the calories! Or hop on the trolley and head to the Gaslamp, the other direction- go to dinner in Old Town. Our favorite is the Old Town Mexican Cafe, a local hangout with really good food and margaritas. We also walked up the hill to Balboa Park, it was an uphill hike, but very nice and after all we consumed a lot of calories! Balboa Park is really wonderful and just a hike away. No need to take your car if you're an active sort of person, and also no need to worry about parking! Parking can be an issue in Little Italy, but we didn't have any problem at all. The apartment is right under the flight path which can scare the pants off you the first time you see one come in, but after a few minutes you get out your phone and snap a picture, which makes for a hit on Instagram! We had the fan on at night so the noise wasn't a huge issue, it's just that first one! Our little house was very clean and had everything we needed. Nina even brought in a small air conditioning unit for us because California has been having a scorcher year. It really helped a lot. She texted to see how we were doing and to ask if we needed anything, which we really appreciated. The bed was big and comfy, there were two nice bathrobes for our use. I'm calling it the "little" house, but actually the house isn't small at all, it's actually quite large, really spacious, I'd say large enough for two couples who don't mind sharing a bathroom. We were very comfortable with just the two of us, we loved coming back after our dinner, gelato, walk to just hang out and drink some wine. The only negative was no cable, but then again we listened to old Sinatra on our tablets and talked. Made for nice romantic evenings. :) It was a fun stay and we hope to do it again soon!
