A very good value for a quiet getaway in Idyllwild
Bob and Corrine were very welcoming, and their studio is well-equipped. The "back 40" was perfect for our small dogs, the forest deck is fantastic, and the full kitchen is a great touch, particularly for this price point! This is definitely a good place for a single or a couple (with or without a small child) who are going to get out and about, hiking, browsing and dining in town. Even on hot days (mid-80s) the studio never warmed up too much given that the evening temperatures were in the 50s and the room is under the main house. We left the windows open at night and enjoyed the cool, quiet air. Great value here, and a good location with a very short drive to town, also (long) walkable if you're willing to negotiate the hills on the way back. About a 20-minute easy pace walk or couple-minute drive to the south trailhead for the Ernie Maxwell trail, which was a great easy hike for us with our two small dogs as well. Our only complaint would be the seating arrangement in the studio - the smallish TV is tough to see from bed if that's your thing, and the chair and loveseat arrangement isn't the most comfortable. These are very minor, nitpicky comments, because if you're looking for a pet-friendly place to rest your head, and get out and about, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a better value.
