I'm still smiling!
Just got back from a fabulous trip to Hawaii. A first for us, and a special 80th birthday celebration for our mother. So... there were 5 adult family members sharing the Junglefarm for a week. We arrived after dark and were greeted by Danny who gave us a quick tour of the place and very generously answered our questions and spent time giving us ideas for places to eat, shop and visit. There was a bowl of fresh chicken eggs and papayas waiting for us from their garden. The next morning we were treated to a tour of the farm. It was a truly vibrant jungle of anthuriums, bananas, and a host of other plants I have seen in small indoor pots, but never many feet tall in the jungle. Danny and Matthew were accommodating and the place was more beautiful than the photos. I could go on and on. The five of us had plenty of room, and felt at home. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen -- and the kitchen was very well stocked except for a couple items... Large coffee mugs (as we were all heavy coffee drinkers) and sheet pans for the oven (we had to us a stove pot in the oven to heat our pastries). We were close to Hilo and the Volcanoes, and the little town of Pahoa had everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable. The nature sounds made us feel that we were far from the beaten path. The frogs and roosters were noisy, but I found that relaxing and enjoyable. There are cats, dogs, goats, chickens, one potbelly pig named Wilbur who made a couple cameo appearances and a menagerie of greenery. I found the place filled with aloha (although I am still trying to understand the exact nature of that special word ) and peace. I can't wait to return! Mahalo Danny and Matthew
