WHAT AN EXPENSIVE MESS
I'm really a nice person & I'm feeling sick to my stomach writing a negative review, but I trust other people's reviews and feel like you should know this. THIS HOME IS NOT PET-FREE. My family has allergies, so I am careful to only rent properties that say "No pets allowed." Within 5 minutes of arrival, my daughter noticed she had cat hair on her black pants-- and she had only sat on two beds. BEDS? Shouldn't those be clean of pet hair? An hour later, another daughter was dying sneezing and said, "Mom, I can't do this." She had been sitting on the floor, and could see hair all over the rug. My husband was about to go get medication for his itchy eyes because he thought he suddenly got pink eye, but no, it was CAT. So, if anyone in your family suffers from animal allergies, be warned! Two hours after we arrived at this home, we were in a hotel, showering off the yuck. I emailed the owner that night. I did not get a reply. I wrote again a few days later, and she apologized that my family has allergies, but made no apology for the house or lack of information. And, did not offer any kind of compensation, even though we were in her home for just over an hour. COMMUNICATION with the owner was bizarre. Before our stay, she was very very quick to reply and very helpful. But once we got there, she "disappeared." When she did get back to me, she said she was out of the country and had poor reception. Which I can appreciate, but why was it perfect before the transaction, then when things went badly, she was unreachable? Fishy. The "SECURITY DEPOSIT" WAS NOT REFUNDABLE. The ONE question I asked the owner before booking was if the security fee was refundable. She said Yes, and I booked. You HAD to choose the mandatory fee or one that was significantly more, so I chose that one, of course. Well, turns out I didn't read it properly, I just trusted her. And that was wrong. So I was charged full price for 2 nights when we didn't even stay 2 hours, plus we didn't get back the security deposit on a place we didn't even have time to mess up. AND had to pay for 2 nights in a hotel. Our fun little weekend get-away ended up being an expensive mess. Side note: The Hampton Inn had a separate bedroom, a living room, a legit kitchen, a fireplace, and free breakfast. And no cat hair. Good alternative. THE HOUSE ITSELF is actually fantastic, if you can do cats. The lay-out is nice. The location is good. There is no access to the garage. Wish we could have stayed.
