One Of A Kind
This was our first experience with "off the grid accommodations," and it was very interesting to see how people live without being hooked up to utilities. It was very educational to experience the everyday living as well as see what happens when lava decides to take over the land and buries a subdivision. We chose this property so that we could get as close as possible to the active volcano flow which was only 3 miles away from the house. We rented bikes for a nighttime viewing of the lava flowing into the sea. The lava was breathtaking! The white plume can be seen at all hours and the orange glow viewed at night. The house is spacious and comfortable. My husband and I stayed in the upstairs bedroom and used the lower floor occassionally. The upstairs bedroom is oversized and the ensuite is large too. The closet in the bathroom is huge and can also double for storage. The shower is big but quick showers are needed to have enough hot water to last. The kitchen is nice and if one wants to cook, there is plenty of room. We enjoyed the caretaker very much. When Enzo greeted us, he told us that he would try to keep out of our way as much as possible. We told him that we were not bothered by his presence and welcomed any conversation. He is a great guy! We would stay there again.
