Brits at a lakeside summer cabin.
Visiting from England we were very pleased to find this lakeside cabin, an easy drive from Montreal Airport. It definitely fitted the dream of a North American summer cabin with it's own canoe and kayak ready for use. We are two adults with a sixteen year old son and consequently differing holiday needs, but we all enjoyed our various priorities from reading many books, enjoying an outdoor fire, to early morning kayaking and swimming in the lake. We all appreciated sightings of the local wildlife - the deer, the squirrels and chipmunks, a racoon crossing the road on the way to Magog and the kingfishers and woodpeckers. The proximity of Magog helped us to choose this cabin - it's a very pleasant and useful place. We found the Metro Plus supermarket easy to get to and only 100m from the main crossroads near the lake. We ate twice at Bistro Chez Sirano and would certainly recommend it for food, atmosphere and service. We visited Montreal taking the Limocar Coach ($60 a head) from the services at Exit 115 where you can leave your car overnight, as we stayed one night in the city very reasonably at a downtown Travelodge Hotel. We also enjoyed a visit to Mount Orford Park and road trips to the canton villages , e.g. North Hatley and Georgeville. A very comfortable, clean, well-appointed holiday home - the only thing missing for us tea-drinking Brits was a kettle!
