Fantastic experience and a wonderful host
I wasn’t sure where to start with my review so I’m going to start from the beginning. The first thing I’d like to mention is that staying at a B & B was a first for my husband and me. It was a giant leap out of our (especially my husbands) comfort zone into a new adventure. The attempt was made to write this review so that it was short, sweet, & to the point. I gave up on that idea, if this seems a bit long, I apologize up front. I was also trying to provide information in addition to reviews that preceded mine because as you can see, Ray’s a great host. Ray’s home, the bedroom, TV room, & bathroom have all been discussed, I’d like to expand on a couple of things that weren’t mentioned or elaborate a bit. Almost immediately after making my reservation Ray contacted me. He, without being pushy, was touching bases with me regarding various aspects of our stay. He wanted to know about our arrival time (thank you for your flexibility), he wanted to know if we had any dietary restrictions or preferences (thank you for the wonderful breakfasts), and also wanted to know if there were any other things he should know about us. Okay, I’m already impressed and getting even more excited & relaxed all at the same time. Ray’s home- There is evidence of a search for perfection without it being apparent. His home is wonderful, modern, and relaxed. There is a skill to being in a home where everything is attended to without feeling indulged. Breakfast – In addition to the other reviews, I’d like to mention that Ray has a menu (at the time of our stay) of jams and jellies from all over. Talk about having a niche. Back yard & patio – A highlight for us. Beautifully maintained & delightfully decorated back yard. We enjoyed more than one breakfast & some great chats on his lovely patio overlooking a variety of plants, flowers & décor. Single Malt Scotch Whiskey tasting – This was the kicker to getting my husband to step out of his comfort zone. Let me tell you, this experience was phenomenal. I will say that initially when I saw Ray’s “set up” for the tasting I was a bit overwhelmed. That feeling subsided almost immediately. Ray made the experience as comfortable as you can image and we learned so much. We discovered that we shared some common interests with Ray; conversation was spontaneous, comfortable, & lively.Without a doubt, we highly recommend staying here. The next time we go to Cali, we will most certainly stay with Ray & Ernie the (Maine Coon) cat of the house.
