Great home away from home
We really lucked-out with Mr. Bennie's Café. This property has a lot of history on Harker's Island. The location of the property is fantastic, you are within walking distance of Billy's Grocery just around the corner; and the Fish Hook Grill and Captain's Choice restaurants are almost in the front yard. The yard is completely fenced-in which is nice to corral both children and pets. You are not to leave pets unattended so don't leave your animals out in the yard while you're gone; but it's a Godsend on a 2200 mile round trip vacation to be able to let the dogs breathe a little while with you out in the yard. The yard is completely shaded, so even on hot sunny days, you can be outside without withering. If the bugs get to you a little bit, the screened-in back porch is very comfortable. Laundry is in the little red barn out back, which is great. Being able to wash a few things on a trip means you don't have to pack as much, again, very convenient. If you plan to hit the beach, being able to wash salt and sand out of towels and swimsuits makes everyone a little less grumpy. There is a small charcoal grill (Weber). A full kitchen. Two full baths. The bathrooms are a bit small; but unless you plan on doing calisthenics or some kind of gymnastics floor routine in there, they are adequate for showering, shaving, and the other. The beds in the two bedrooms are high off the floor, due to storage area underneath, if you have mobility challenges getting into the beds may be a problem. Mr. Bennie's is a very cozy place to stay, you won't regret it.
