We had a great time visiting The Volcano area. This cottage provided a good base from which to explore the area. The cottage is fairly new - a throw blanket in the cottage says "Established 2014". It shows. Everything looks great. It has fresh paint, and is very clean. The studio setup is nice. There is a small kitchen area and the owner provided cereal, milk, orange juice, papaya, bananas and coffee. The coffee was in the form of a Keurig machine and several pods. It was enough for two of us to have a light breakfast two mornings. A few water bottles were also included. The bathroom was huge, with a very nice shower. It had two small corner sinks so two people could take care of themselves at one time. The location was near mile marker 23. For reference, Volcano Village is near mile marker 26 and the Volcano National Park is past mile marker 28. Everything is nearby. The pictures on VRBO properly represent the property. The cottage is next to the owner's house, but oriented such that if you sit in the front porch you feel you are all by yourself, facing some bamboos and a nice garden. The whole property is manicured and attractive. The parking area is spacious. We never saw Karen, the owner, but she was very responsive to e-mails, and would have been available if we needed her. She just respects privacy and does not want to intrude. She lives on the property, so any issues can be promptly addressed. Overall, a good experience and would recommend the property to friends.
